Description


We are seeking enthusiastic Review Operations Assistants and Specialists with a variety of scientific backgrounds for our Peer Review team. Under the supervision of the Review Operations Team Lead, and working closely with other editorial staff, the selected candidates will be given responsibilities and hands-on experience focusing on ensuring a timely review process for all manuscripts submitted to Frontiers, by supporting the external academic editors, reviewers and authors, monitoring adherence to guidelines and policies.


These full-time positions in our new central Lausanne office, will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to work in a stimulating, fast-paced work environment with an innovative scholarly publisher.


Assistants are entry level, internship positions direct from a Bachelor or Masters and are part of our internship programme for a 6 month contract. Specialists are permanent positions, bringing either PhD, Post-Doc, or publishing experience. Many people join Frontiers at Assistant level and grow with us moving into the Specialist role after their 6 month contract.


Main responsibilities:



  • Manage journals inboxes, prioritizing tasks, labeling and forwarding emails as needed;

  • Respond to all queries related to the review process from editors/reviewers/authors, resolving conflictual situations and delays, and granting extensions;

  • Carry out quality control checks including conflicts of interest, rigorous peer review, data deposition, clinical trials;

  • Escalate any issues to the Research Integrity team or Journals Development teams as appropriate;

  • Liaise with authors, reviewers and editors to improve processes and assure timely, fair and thorough peer review;

  • Analysis and proactive recommendations for development of the review platform.


Requirements



  • The ability to quickly and accurately manage large volumes of information, and to prioritize and react effectively to urgent situations;

  • Excellent communication in written and spoken English, including professional telephone manner and high attention to details.

  • A positive, collaborative and professional attitude;

  • Target and customer oriented with a pro-active and resilient personality;

  • A willingness to work in a fast-paced, target-driven environment;

  • IT Proficiency with MS Office and Google tools, with solid typing skills;

  • Academic degree relating to any of our journals; preference for Life, Health and Physical Sciences, and Engineering;

  • Candidates welcomed directly following Masters or PhD (university/academia).
