For our Plant Leadership Team we are hiring a Technical Manager Engineering, Maintenance & Project Management. This is a very challenging role in a very fast growing business and with a high performing team.


You will be based at our plant in Kreuzlingen, Switzerland and directly report to our Plant Manager


As Technical Manager Engineering, Maintenance & Project Management you will plan and direct the activities of your team (appr. 9 ppl.) developing complex engineering projects. This function often calls you for the derivation and application of new or unique approaches. This is why you will also formulate, recommend and direct research and development programs to meet organization needs for the improvement and cost reduction of existing products and processes, as well as the introduction of new products and processes. You will facilitate the transfer of technologies throughout various areas of the organization, conduct research studies, develop technology, improve designs, evaluate new products, review and analyze technical literature and stay current on related issues and technical data.


Activities may include, but are not limited to:


Engineering, Maintenance Project Management



  • Achieve maximum levels of safety and productivity, ensuring that the business benefits from the lowest possible cost and best value.

  • Provide project management and technical / maintenance leadership.

  • Accountable for departmental budget and project deliverables. Secure and allocate appropriate resources and manage projects to meet departmental goals and achieve financial objectives.

  • Lead cross-functional team on projects. Communicate and work with all levels of the organization. Manage a large multi-function program or a set of projects at out chemical site. Interact with colleagues, suppliers and customers.

  • Lead the formulation and development of projects. Provide direction and guidance to project leader. Monitor progress on schedule, budget and technical output. Provide guidance to the team on projects.

  • Lead technology/maintenance transfer to manufacturing. Understand and articulate how emerging technologies can be applied in manufacturing (Industry 4.0).

  • Strong awareness of competition and impact of strategies and tactics in the marketplace.

  • Apply specific technologies to projects.

  • Leverage internal/external experts in network to accomplish goals.

  • Conduct patent analysis for projects. Communicate with patent attorney – effective follow through.


Employee Development & Management



  • Train and provide development opportunities for staff. Ensure annual goals are complete and communicated. Ensure Global Performance Management System is up to date and regular feedback is provided to staff members.

  • Monitor and evaluate team members, and adjust training where needed.

  • Model and promote the Corporation’s Code of Business Ethics and Values.

  • Act as a team role model and change-agent. Positively lead and influence team members to partner together to achieve individual and business goals.

  • Coordinate team efforts, create and manage a regional strategy and team operating plan.


Qualifications


What we expect from you! - Your Expertise:



  • Bachelor’s and/or Master's Degree in applicable field, such as Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering

  • 8+ years engineering related experience in chemical industry with several years in a leadership role

  • Demonstrated understanding and skills in project lead, project and program management, including 3rd parties

  • Demonstrate working knowledge/experience in TPM as well as in Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma, ideally certified by Green Belt and/or Black Belt

  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and German with ability to be an advisor to clients and build strong and sustainable relationships.

  • Creativity and innovation, hands-on problem-solving and entrepreneurial spirit for optimizing productivity

  • Possessing an analytical mindset, perform well under pressure and be able to manage a number of key tasks at a time

  • High degree of accuracy, good time-management, independency in decision making and priority setting skills are important

  • Energetic, dedicated and enthusiastic work approach combined with strong self management (work remotely) to meet deadlines and to do what it takes to get the job done

  • Strong cultural empathy and team-player, relationship-building attitude to operate in complex multinational organization
