Biology Laboratory Technician (100%)

Alpinia Laudanum Institute for Phytopharmaceutical Sciences AG was established in 2008 and is pursu-
ing the scientific development of medicines and health-care products based on plants with high therapeu-
tic potential. It is dedicated to developing new medicines to address unmet needs in medical therapies.


We are currently offering an opportunity as a:


Biology Laboratory Technician (100%)


PRIMARY OBJECTIVES: Perform laboratory tasks in support of development of cellular assay and im-
muno-oncology platform
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Working with cell cultures: development of mammalian cell culture processes; proficiency with in
    vitro cell culture assays.

  • Aseptic techniques for handling primary human cells and for mammalian cell culture.

  • Preparation and handling of primary specimens, including peripheral blood and other liquid bio-
    specimens.

  • Perform in vitro assays for immunology relevant purposes (e.g. ELISA, cytotoxicity, cytokine pro-
    filing).

  • Maintain and ensure safe laboratory environment and work practices.

  • Helps to maintain laboratory and order common supplies.

  • Conducts semi-routine and moderately complex tasks to support process development.

  • Execute records of results accurately, clearly and regularly and evaluate appropriately data.

  • Assists with preparing protocols, reports and test methods.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively in a team-oriented environment while
    maintaining a strong sense of integrity and confidentiality.

  • Ability to assist with other tasks/duties as needed in a small company environment.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE



  • Bachelor’s or Master`s degree or education as Biology laboratory technician.

  • At least 2-3 years of experience in a research laboratory.

  • Experience with various laboratory techniques: primary and cell line culture, immunohistochemis-
    try.

  • Experience with Caco-2/MDCK-MDR1 would be an asset.

  • Ability to use biochemical techniques such as western blot analysis, PCR, flow cytometry would
    be an advantage.

  • Good knowledge of English (writing and speaking) and German language.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES



  • Expertise in aseptic techniques for handling primary human cells and for mammalian cell cultures.

  • Proficiency with in vitro cell culture assays.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Strong planning, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Demonstrated accountability for own work.

  • Ability to observe safety and security procedures.
