The Position


Solution Integration & Services (SIS) is a critical contributor and enabler of Roche’s divisional aspiration to realize the connected core lab, and to provide integrated diagnostics information anywhere, anytime. Project Management, part of System Integration & Solution (SIS), is the organization responsible for the planning and successful delivery of Workflow & IT projects.


Within Project Management we are looking for a Project Lead for the project “Advanced Modules”.


You have the opportunity to lead a project, which will develop globally standardized capabilities to extend the LIS (Laboratory Information System) capabilities of existing middleware products using a modular architecture.


In this role you will be collaborating with product managers, other project and program leaders as well as implementation leads to jointly shape the scope of your project, determine the preferred realization approach and drive the implementation of the project from inception until productive launch. You will be given the responsibility for project set up and will assume delivery accountability for the Advanced Modules project.


This is an excellent opportunity to define and deliver a new product within Solution Integration & Services by successfully applying your Project Management, Communications and Stakeholder Management skills.


The advertised position will include the following main responsibilities:



  • Formulates and defines scope and objectives of the project in collaboration with the International Product Manager (IPM) and ensures communication and agreement of project goals, schedule baselines, and strategic direction to all identified stakeholders.

  • Responsible to identify all relevant project stakeholders and to establish and implement an appropriate communication plan to manage their requirements and expectations.

  • Primarily responsible to deliver the project on approved schedule, budget and within quality limits.

  • Actively manages risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies by carefully assessing potential impacts in collaboration with the project team and proposing appropriate mitigation actions.

  • Creates baseline project schedules and tracks the completion of project deliverables, tasks, activities and milestones. Provides accurate, timely and fit for purpose project status reports using established norms and reporting tools of the portfolio.

  • Identify, acquire, and lead a multifunctional project team. Actively manages and addresses the resolution of conflicts within the project team.

  • Supports the selection and contracting of external development partners

  • Ensures and is directly accountable for compliance with defined delivery processes (DCC WF&IT).


Who you are


To be successful in this role you should bring:



  • Completed studies in the field of IT, natural sciences or comparable vocational training or further education

  • 7+ years of project management experience in the IT environment, focusing on implementation projects, typically in the area of healthcare IT or laboratory information systems

  • Track record of delivering projects on time and on budget against agreed baseline

  • Deep understanding of various System Development Life Cycles (Waterfall, Agile, iterative, etc.)

  • Solid understanding of technology infrastructures

  • Proven ability to obtain results in a global, matrix environment

  • Strong organizational, methodological and communication skills

  • Ability to capture complex problems, analyse them and translate them into solutions

  • Fluency in English is mandatory – spoken and written, German desirable

  • Autonomous, structured and goal-oriented working methods and a good team player

  • Project management certification (e.g. IPMA, PMI, PRINCE2) is an advantage
