Why we are recruiting The Forum of Young Global Leaders (YGL) is a preeminent community of 700 young leaders, forging a new model of global governance in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and propelling human-centric societies that embrace technology. It is housed at and maintains close affiliation with the World Economic Forum. YGL Community Specialists are responsible for engaging business leaders committed to mobilizing sustainable and future-oriented practices across their organizations, employees, and business partners; next generation political leaders constructing a peaceful and prosperous shared global future; and critical change-makers across cultural, social and scientific fields. Their role is to mobilize these enterprising leaders as a collective to galvanize unity and inspire integrity within our fractured global landscape; and also to support the annual selection process of Young Global Leaders. Over 1500 nominations for this honour are received throughout the year, and appropriately appraising candidates’ profiles and suitability for the community is critical for its health and longevity. The team is currently seeking a Community Specialist to lead the engagement of Africa and Middle East-based Young Global Leaders. This individual will also lead the selection and appraisal process of Young Global Leader candidates, coordinating with the YGL team and manipulating relevant data to meet the criteria, deadlines and expectations of the Selection Committee. Reporting Lines & Interactions The Africa and Middle East Community Specialist will report to Mariah Levin, Head of the YGL Team. This role is based in Geneva. Main responsibilities Community Management
Help to shape and build momentum around community impact goals, specifically ones that align with the 2020 vision of the community and its broader mission
Support the design and delivery of flagship events and community engagement opportunities
Steward community engagement at a local and regional level, specifically to achieve a sense of community cohesion and collective societal contributions
Encourage collaboration of members within and across the YGLs on common interests and affiliations
Lead the selection of new YGLs in the Africa and Middle East regions, including liaising with relevant teams across the Forum to guide nominations and obtain input
Promote digital community management and engagement, including supporting the team to develop effective ways of digital community building, maintaining and updating a comprehensive database of expertise and professional information, and profiling community achievements on social media
Manage relationships between the World Economic Forum and the Forum of Young Global Leaders (YGLs):
Champion members’ interests within the Forum’s broader range of activities, aligned with the Forum’s mission
Act as the primary interface between the Forum and select YGLs, coordinate their involvement in events, and promote their engagement in projects and initiatives
Selection
Manage the end-to-end YGL selection process by guiding the team through the requirements and timeline
Lead the digital implementation of the various stages throughout the selection process including the development of online applications, data gathering and upload, and managing IT development as necessary
Provide timely and accurate analysis to the team at every stage of the selection process
Manage internal and external stakeholders to support IT development of selection tools and websites, risk assessment partners, and serve as the point of contact for internal constituents

Engaging Africa and Middle East YGLs in community efforts and events, as well as the broader efforts of the World Economic Forum
Coordinating the annual selection process of Young Global Leaders
Supporting the public profile of the Forum of Young Global Leaders
Contributing to the Young Global Leaders’ Calendar of Events
Preferred requirements and experience
Broad intellectual background with a Master’s degree (or equivalent)
3-6 years of professional experience, preferably in managing events and partnerships across sectors
Proven track record of working with senior stakeholders in business, government, academia and international organizations, as well as youth from across these sectors
Ability to manage complex, cross-team projects and to work efficiently and effectively across multiple priorities
Proficiency in MS Office/Excel/PowerPoint and Salesforce; interest in data science, big data management, and coding a plus
Digital native who is at ease working with a wide variety of digital and social media platforms
Native-level proficiency in spoken and written English; other languages, particularly French or Portuguese an asset
Team-player and self-starter, who enjoys working in a highly dynamic setting within a matrix environment
