As the Head of Global Procurement Business Support for Diabetes Care you will take responsibility for the Global Procurement Strategy, overall global procurement processes, systems, tools, project management and reporting reflecting the needs of a modern and high performing global procurement function aligned with the expectations of key internal business partners. You will own the implementation of the digital strategy and continuous improvements initiatives.

We at Roche Diabetes Care (RDC) are a pioneer and global leader in the development of blood glucose monitoring systems, insulin delivery systems, and diabetes management systems and services.

You will report to the Head of Global Procurement, Roche Diabetes Care. You are a full member of global leadership team. Your team consists of project managers and analysts. The CFO, finance functions, IT, Operations, Quality, and R&D (Hardware & Software) are key functions for the role.

Your responsibilities

• Position Global Procurement as a trusted business partner. You will demonstrate solid business understanding and will build partnerships with business leaders and affiliates.


• Develop a high performing team. We expect from you the leadership needed to transform our organization from a decentralized organization to a global function. You will need to demonstrate strong people skills working across cultures and geographies. You will coach and develop your team.


• Own, implement and maintain the Global Procurement Strategy. In particular, you will design, develop and implement the Digital Strategy with clear deliverables and end state. You will be the project owner including implementation and budget responsibility


• Lead the yearly objective setting process, measurement, communication and reporting.


• Functional budget responsibility


• Own global procurement tools, systems, processes. We will be looking at you to take the lead in crafting and rolling-out standardized Global Procurement processes and systems to reflect a modern procurement organization. You will support development of the Sustainability agenda in RDC aligned with Group Health, Safety and Environment.

Who you are

• You hold a Master degree (MBA) e.g. within Engineering, Business, Finance or other relevant natural science background.


• Consultancy background/experience highly desired


• Minimum 10 years of experience from a similar global position preferably within Pharma or Medical Device manufacturing


• You have a minimum of 5 years experience as a people leader of high performing and culturally diverse teams


• High proficiency in English. Other languages e.g. German, French, Spanish will be desirable


• Proven experience from working in a cross functional setting (e.g. Supply chain, Finance, Quality, Regulatory)


• Experience with Continuous improvement e.g. LEAN Six Sigma


• Experience from strategizing, implementing and operationalizing digital procurement processes e.g. Req 2 Pay processes, SRM, Contract management, eSourcing (RFx processes)


• Experience from leading global cross functional project teams


• Ability and willingness to travel (predominantly in EU)


• Strong communicator and story telling, solid business acumen and analytical skills


• Strong ability to network and build trustful working relationships


• Deep understanding of financial processes of a company (P&L and Balance sheet) and how Global Procurement can create financial value and how to calculate/report


• Experienced user of Microsoft office e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, database tools


• Familiar with preparing business cases including financial decision parameters e.g. NPV calculations


• Experience with SAP ERP systems and with procurement systems and processes e.g. Ariba, eSourcing tools


• Senior project management experience, driving and implementing global and complex projects e.g. IT


• Experience with preparing management reporting and presentations
