Continuing Airworthiness Engineer

Position description


The Airworthiness Engineer defines the technical standard of the airframe structure to our Swiss fleets and is therefore responsible for the modification status per aircraft within his assigned fleet and related technical chapters as per ATA. The focus is to maintain the airworthiness, safety and reliability of our aircraft structure in line with the manufacturer and aviation legislation requirements.

In addition, the Airworthiness Engineer continuously improves our product and Swiss processes with cost saving initiatives to optimize our maintenance support in a complex and demanding environment.

Your Duties



  • Responsible for the aircraft structure as per EASA Part M

  • Support the maintenance organization with technical data towards in-service findings as per EASA Part 145

  • Assessment of modifications to aircraft structure and related components and define techncial solutions, perform cost benefit analysis and work out implementation plan

  • Develop inspection programs and repair solutions in close co-operation with manufacturer, maintenance and repair organizations

  • Define technical solutions to maintain the aircraft structure towards standards and reliability targets

  • Identify technical potentials to reduce operational and maintenance cost

  • Analyse root cause of defects, provide recommendations and perform operational risk evaluations

  • Provide support during off-office hours according to internal regulations

  • Support the Swiss Quality department and Office of Airworthiness for investigations and root cause analysis


 


Requirements



  • University degree (or equivalent) in Aeronautical / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering

  • Proven practice in airframe maintenance for commercial aircraft, preferably Airbus

  • Deep knowledge of NAA (FOCA) and EASA regulation (145, M, 21)

  • Analytical and systematic skills including economic basis for cost/benefit analysis

  • Team player with active and clear communication skills

  • Familiar with Maintenance Information Systems, preferably AMOS

  • Qualified as a Design Engineer or higher as per EASA Part 21  

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in aviation maintenance

  • Fluency in German and English (written and spoken)
