Manager, VAT (International Statutory Reporting)

Looking to join a dynamic team of Accounting professionals and obtain valuable international statutory accounting experience? The International Statutory Reporting team is looking for a VAT Manager to join a newly created VAT team focused on supporting Expedia’s Global Lodging business. Expedia’s Global Lodging business brings together travelers and over 750,000 properties and growing. The VAT Manager will be key player on both the Global Lodging business team and on the Global VAT team.

This position is located in Geneva, Switzerland.

What you’ll do:

• Manage and mentor a team of two to four accounting professionals


• Understand US GAAP concepts and their effects on statutory financial results


• Ensure VAT compliance for our Swiss subsidiaries, directly or liaison with external providers - depending on country.


• Reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations for month-end close journal entries necessary within VAT asset and liability accounts and reviewing of monthly P&L.


• Reviewing and filing monthly/quarterly VAT payments where appropriate.


• Work cross-functionally supporting external statutory audits and being the primary liaison with the auditors


• Implementing new business processes and ensure these processes are communicated across the various business groups


• Ensuring all SOX controls are maintained


• Other ad hoc projects as needed (merge, onboarding new companies, etc)

Who you are:

• BA or BS in Accounting required; CPA or Chartered Accountant required


• The candidate must have at least 6+ years of experience; public accounting experience is required


• Previous managerial experience required


• Global VAT experience required


• Ability to use accounting knowledge and previous experience to add value and assist in meeting the department's objectives while working in a fast-paced, team oriented, rapidly changing, and high-growth organization


• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, capable of clearly articulating complex processes to audiences with differing levels of understanding.


• A proven track record of collaborating and delivering results working as part of a cross functional team both in the local office and with the global organization.


• Experience with Oracle or a similar ERP system.


• Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, functions) as well as the ability to work with large amounts of data.
