Junior Reinsurance Accountant Non-Life

This role is based in our Zurich office and will report to the Supervisor Reinsurance Accounting Non-Life based in Zurich. The Reinsurance Accounting department is in charge of premium and claims account handling of reinsurance brokers and clients (direct insurances).

 

Being part of our Reinsurance Accounting team of eleven Accountantsyour mission will be to manage an assigned broker/cedent insurance/reinsurance facultative and treaty portfolio, which you will verify, process, monitor and analyse.

 

In more detail your responsibilities will be to:

• Identify, verify and process regular accounts, commutation accounts, cash losses, profit & loss calculations as well as year-end related documents against treaty terms and contractual conditions

• Cedant premium- and loss reserves handling, cedant statistic analysis and Letter of Credit & Pledged Securities handling

• Monitoring and managing of cash statements including confirmation letters as well as active communication with brokers and cedants

• Close cooperation, coordination and exchange of information with Claims, Cash Accounting, UW Admin, UW and other internal functional areas


• Electronic management and archiving of accounting relevant documents in the DMS

About you

To be successful in this role, you have the following background, skills and mindset:

• Commercial apprenticeship or equivalent


• Max. 2-4 years working experience post qualification, ideally in the insurance or reinsurance field, where you could gain some general re/insurance knowledge


• Advanced knowledge of Excel and Word


• Ability to speak and write in English fluently, other languages are a plus (especially Spanish)


• Ability to work independently as well as in a team towards common goals


• Well-organized, detail oriented and accurate working style


• Openness for continuous improvement and can-do attitude


• Ability to handle multiple demands and priorities
