As part of the global technical development organization, we are responsible for the analytical research and development for new drug substances and drug products, at the Roche Basel site. This includes the development, optimization and validation of state-of-the-art analytical methods involving mostly chromatographic techniques. Our responsibilities also include the evaluation and implementation of new analytical technologies and methodologies.
You will work on the interface between chemical process development and analytical development to support the development of new drug substances. You will get deep insight into the pharmaceutical industry and in particular drug substance development.
The goal of the project is to develop an IT tool to structure and combine information about impurities generated in the manufacturing process and during development. This information includes for example structural data, analytical information, toxicological data, reactivity, and depletion (fate and purge).
Your responsibilities are:
Setting up a database with data entry for the required data
Establish a connection to other databases to combine this data
Creation of automated reports and visualization of the data

Your Profile
You are an enrolled student in the area of Biologics or Chemistry with pronounced IT skills or a student in the IT area with a scientific (Biologics or Chemistry) background like Bioinformatics, Chemoinformatics with excellent grades. Furthermore you are passionate about using and sharing your knowledge as part of a 6-months internship in a modern working environment.
Your further profile for this position:
Proficient in several programming languages, preferably Python or Javascript
Bonus: Experience in user interface (UI) development
Basic knowledge about databases (such as SQL)
Experience in data science or data visualisation
Proficient in English, knowledge of German is a plus
This internship opportunity is one of around ten we offer in the department per semester. The interviews will take place in an interview day with all considered candidates and the whole department.
