Senior Project Lead

About Swiss Re

The Swiss Re Group is one of the world’s leading providers of reinsurance, insurance and other forms of insurance-based risk transfer, working to make the world more resilient. It anticipates and manages risk – from natural catastrophes to climate change, from ageing populations to cybercrime. The aim of the Swiss Re Group is to enable society to thrive and progress, creating new opportunities and solutions for its clients. Headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, where it was founded in 1863, the Swiss Re Group operates through a network of around 80 offices globally. It is organised into three Business Units, each with a distinct strategy and set of objectives contributing to the Group’s overall mission.

About the role

Are you looking for an opportunity to be in charge of delivering creative, user-friendly solutions that support Swiss Re employees in their dedication to making the world more resilient? Would you like to build on your IT Project/Programme Management skills and take the next step up in the Corporate Services value chain – and beyond? Are you attracted to diverse challenges that require you to bring together people from multiple disciplines and make them work together towards a joint project goal?

Then you are exactly the person we are looking for!

We are searching for a Senior Project Lead, whose main responsibility is to lead and run projects that accelerate Swiss Re Group Operations (Human Resources, Corporate Real Estate, Communications, Legal & Compliance, Procurement) along its digital transformation journey, with the goal of becoming a true digital enterprise.

Responsibility and tasks

  • Scoping, planning and delivery of projects on time and on budget – meeting the requirements of the sponsor and making our users happy.

  • Leading internal and external project staff through Swiss Re's solution design and delivery processes, making the best use of their skills and motivating them to deliver excellent results as a team.

  • Handling project budget, risks and partners – not shying away from difficult decisions and unpopular views if they are on the path to the right result.

About the team

Customer Experience and Digital Delivery (CEDD) is mandated to craft and improve customer experience and drive the digital transformation within Group Operations, beyond traditional silos and across divisions, services and touchpoints. In addition, the unit delivers managed customer care services on behalf of Group Operations divisions through multiple channels and acts as a single point of contact for customers through the ContactOne portal and a central service desk for all Group Operations services.

While most of your peers and many of your key partners are based in Zurich (Switzerland), the team is composed of an international workforce based in different locations and serving a global customer basis.

About you

  • Professional background, experience, attitude, etc.

  • University degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or comparable education/experience)

  • 5+ years of experience in successfully leading or orchestrating large IT projects while taking into consideration both business objectives and people change impacts

  • Excellent applied knowledge in the use of project management methodologies, frameworks and tools – ideally in both the traditional (Waterfall) and the progressive (Agile) project delivery practices.

  • General IT knowledge with broad technical skills – deeper skills in one technology or platform (e.g. ServiceNOW) is a plus.

  • Experience in building and maintaining relationships on senior partner level

  • Cross-team collaboration incl. ability to navigate through corporate processes

  • Fresh perspectives and agile mind-set; strong intrinsic motivation and energy

  • Excellent spoken and written English skills; German is a plus

  • International work experience is an asset
