As the Strategic Project Delivery Manager, you are part of the Global Procurement organization and will report directly to the Strategic Project Delivery Lead. You will oversee and execute transformational projects in coordination with Strategic Project Delivery team members and partners to realize critical deliverables for the Global Procurement organization.


Global Procurement is a key function that delivers value to Roche by using market knowledge, subject matter expertise and business insights in the procurement of goods and services and the management of Roche’s third party spend. Through collaboration with our external suppliers and internal business partners, Global Procurement helps bring innovative tests and medicines to patients.


The Strategic Project Delivery Manager is responsible for managing and overseeing cross-functional teams to realize benefits and deliver on the Global Procurement Strategy. While directing a team of experts, this role is responsible for completing project activities and developing deliverables against strategic and transformational projects that are part of Strategic Project Delivery project portfolio. This includes creating, completing and tracking detailed project plans, managing and driving project change management efforts with partners, effectively leading and facilitating project meetings as well as dedicatedly controlling project scope, risks and issues. In day to day operations, time and effort is required to manage a moderate number of cross-divisional global, regional and local procurement partners. The Strategic Project Delivery Manager works with a broad range of functional partners.


Your responsibilities:



  • Plan and manage on-time delivery of project activities and milestones. Partner with subject matter experts and project support to ensure project phases (e.g. mobilization, as-is, to-be and deployment) are effectively and efficiently progressed and delivered.

  • Work closely with team members and project partners to ensure project outcomes are in alignment with Global Procurement Strategy. Prepare required project inputs to Strategic Project Delivery Lead to track Transformation progress and contribution to Global Procurement Strategy.

  • Define, implement and measure metrics and KPI’s for project progress. Monitor quality assurance throughout project, deliverable acceptance, and sign-off processes. Manage and report on project progress and status to Strategic Project Delivery Lead and relevant PMO or portfolio management counterparts.

  • Drive continuous improvement by using internal and external networks and exchange with relevant experts.

  • Identify project partners to support Change & Communication Manager and Specialists in mapping and managing resistance to change. Identify and provide the most important change impacts to partners, ensuring organization impacts are known.

  • Drive service delivery change initiatives including the planning, facilitation and execution of change management initiatives to enable desired behavioral changes in strong collaboration with Change & Communications Manager.

  • Enable project communication to core project team and provide required inputs to counterparts across Strategic Project Delivery team, including Change & Communications and PMO.

  • Drive identification and resolution of issues with project delivery mindset including escalation of risks and issues if necessary.

  • Capture and make accessible documentation of project information and tools. Provide regular project progress updates to sponsor(s) and Portfolio and Performance Management team.


We are looking for someone with a relevant Bachelor degree and ideally an MBA. To be successful, we believe you will need 10+ years Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, Project and/or Process management, 7+ Years with JD, PhD or Masters and 5+ years relevant project-based experience delivering on transformational or strategic initiatives.


Your qualifications:



  • Demonstrated capability to drive strategic and transformational projects across Procurement topics

  • MBA preferred

  • Previous Pharma business experiences a plus

  • Excellent communication, influencing and networking skills

  • Excellent analytical and soft skills

  • Ability to challenge the status quo

  • Experience with project management tools and methodologies

  • Understanding of change & communication management

  • Ability to work independently

  • Proven in relationship building and developing credibility

  • Ability to quickly understand new topics and adapt to new situations

  • High degree of dedication, motivation and ability to work under pressure

  • Business level fluency in English

  • Life Sciences industry or management consulting experience is desired

  • Project Management Professional certification is desired

  • Knowledge of (Roche) Procurement teams, policies and practices is desired

  • Experience working globally across Roche, especially in largelocations of Basel and SSF
