The Associate Director will drive compliance for significant capital projects in MSD Europe and beyond. The role will be responsible for developing the Global Engineering Annual Audit Plan, and executing Project Audits and Supplier Home Office Audits. This includes management of contracted audit activities. Responsible for accepting audit assignments, performing audit pre-work, conducting audits and ensuring post audit activities are completed within defined timeframes. The position includes mitigation responsibilities such as development of agreed action plans with internal organizations and external firms to attain acceptable corrective action plans, and track to closure.



  • Review requests for new audits to determine if the request meets audit criteria and include in audit schedule accordingly.

  • Schedule and perform assigned audits and ensure timelines for audit steps (pre-work, conducting audit, issuance of audit report, CAPA receipt) meet established expectations.

  • Maintain a broad based expertise of MSD Policies, Procedures and Guidelines, regulatory requirements, etc. that are pertinent to the pharmaceutical and construction industries.

  • Obtain and maintain cutting-edge knowledge and application, for various audit topics

  • Maintain awareness of evolving industry and regulatory trends/regulations. Support New Business opportunities through Due Diligence (electronic due diligence as well as on-site visits) and Pre-Contract Audits, issuance of reports, and evaluation of corrective and preventive actions.

  • Assist with preparation of annual audit schedule, using risk based approaches for auditor assignment

  • Lead & Coordinate with Procurement and impacted leads on critical audit findings and or audit refusals. Generate comprehensive presentations/summary of issues for effective communication to all levels, ensuring required assessments are performed.

  • Leads initiatives / drive results in various projects, as assigned, to maintain the effectiveness and efficiency of the audit program, and to ensure the audit program continues to meet using site and management expectations.

  • Provides oversight of local auditors to ensure financial, procedural, and contractual considerations of GES Project Teams are addressed in a timely manner. Oversees contracted audit services, in Owner role.

  • Ensures GES Senior Management access to real-time GES Project Audit dashboard reporting.

Qualifications

 

Education Minimum Requirement:



  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Engineering, Finance, or other relevant discipline.

  • Experience 10+ of audit and/or construction industry experience.


Required Experience and Skills:



  • Experience performing audits of external and internal organizatons and third parties.

  • Strong compliance knowledge and proficiency in interpreting and applying contractual, regulatory, and procedural requirements and guidelines.

  • Ability to work independently, Incumbent must have the ability to work both independently and in a team environment, and be able to effectively interact with all levels of management.

  • Must possess “Subject Matter Expertise”, including knowledge and demonstrated application in capital management process various construction industry practices.

  • Excellent/accomplished communication, negotiation, facilitation, influencing, and strategic thinking skills at all levels of organization


Preferred Experience and Skills:



  • External engagement in industry forums.

  • Current with construction industry expectations and requirements. Experience with construction project execution (experience with bid and award documents, construction and engineering contract agreements, change management, invoicing, cost reporting, and schedule).

  • Excellent analytical and communication (verbal, written) skills. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

  • SAP work experience strongly preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and drive results/impact for critical business / compliance initiatives.

  • Demonstrated ability for process improvement and to create/implement simple, compliant systems in various areas.

  • Experience with direct participation on interdisciplinary Due Diligence teams – with Senior Management, inclusive of initial risk/compliance assessment based on documentation.

  • Lean six-sigma belt / demonstrated process improvement experience.

  • Experience with development, implementation and optimization of IT tools to deliver business outcomes/impact.
