As a new addition to our Safety & Environment Team, we are looking for a EHS/HSE Specialist (m/f) who will be responsible for specific environmental health and safety programs and compliance for our Research site MSD Werthenstein BioPharma in Schachen (LU), Switzerland (Full-time, indefinite).

 

The primary activities include but are not limited to:



  • Development and implementation of corporate EHS policies and procedures; Provides technical support and coordination in defining and implementing site EH&S systems for the site

  • Ensures ongoing evaluation of changes in Safety Regulatory requirements. Develops and implements MSD requirements and strategies to ensure 100% compliance with all current and future safety requirements as and when they arise.

  • Ensures that site systems are in place to maintain 100% site compliance with all Safety and Environmental Regulations and Programs and are aligned with global safety and environment expectations

  • Maintains records, supporting data and reports for required government, industry, management and site committees

  • Ensures that self-assessments, safety reviews, safety inspections etc. are diligently carried out and corrective/preventive actions taken to minimize risks long term

  • Participates in accident/incident and near miss investigations

  • Maintains and updates emergency response plans and procedures

  • Performs occupation risk assessment

  • Specifies and organizes safety & environmental trainings through third parties, web-based material and/or self-development and delivery for all relevant stakeholders in accordance with regulatory or company requirements

  • Organizes and participates in safety & environment promotional and awareness campaigns as appropriate

  • Provides technical support for new projects and modifications to ensure proper EH&S design review, as well as routine /maintenance evaluation after process / equipment installed / implemented


Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an environmental or safety related technical discipline or equivalent

  • Minimum 2 years of experience with EHS/HSE in a similar role.

  • Documented knowledge of Swiss and EU EHS regulations and regulatory framework

  • Proficient German speaking and good communication skills in English, as well as report writing

  • Very good Knowledge of the regulatory frameworks such as EKAS, EU OSHA, OHSAS 18000, EPA, ISO, NFPA, GMP

  • Relevant professional certifications are of advantage

  • Previous experience in a chemical or pharmaceutical company is an asset

  • Proven ability to develop sustainable cooperative professional relationships on all levels of the organization

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Ability to prioritize, focus on and obtain business results

  • Demonstrated analytical and logical problem-solving abilities

  • Flexibility to perform multiple, complex tasks simultaneously to efficiently support the business
