We are offering a unique opportunity to join our Lead Discovery team in Basel. Our team comprises a diversity of expertise, technologies& capabilities needed to deliver multiple high quality chemical starting points utilizing integrated cellular & target-based discovery approaches. Lead discovery is based at the Roche Innovation Centers Basel and Shanghai.

As a Senior Research Associate in protein crystallization you grow the crystals needed for structure based small molecule design and for therapeutic antibodies drug discovery. In this role:

You plan, perform, interpret, evaluate and document crystallization experiments.

You operate and maintain liquid handling pipetting robots and crystal imaging systems.

Collaborating closely with colleagues and leaders in multidisciplinary project teams you share your ideas and results by presenting in laboratory or team meetings.

You promote technology development within the structural biology laboratories.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a committed individual who enjoys the close collaboration with the colleagues in protein production, assay development, screening, medicinal chemistry, and disease biology. You do bring:

• Technical, BSc or MSc degree or equivalent in biology, biochemistry, or in a related discipline. Previous exposure to the pharmaceutical or biotech industry is a plus.


• Deep knowledge in protein biochemistry. Experience in crystallization or electron microscopy is of advantage


• Good time management skills: you are well organized and are able to multi-task


• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team


• Effective oral and written communication in English, German is a plus


• Curiosity for new scientific and technical approaches
