The Position
As a member of our Research & Development department, you will help to deliver pioneering blood gas solutions, empowering health care providers to make the right decisions to save their patients’ lives.
You will be responsible for creating system concepts, system decomposition and interface descriptions for blood gas analysis instruments and consumables together with the team. You will contribute to define requirements, to assess product risks and tests to ensure that the system is reliable and performs as expected.
The advertised position offers:
Working in an interdisciplinary environment with scientists, engineers and lab specialists from various disciplines (hardware, mechanics, software, fluidic workflows, algorithms, system reagents and electrochemical sensors). You will apply system modelling tools to define system concepts and interfaces between components
Working in a regulated market. You will contribute to regulatory documentation and maintain the corresponding tools for, e.g. requirements management, traceability analysis, system configuration management, product risk management etc.
Development of new products. As a specialist for fluidic workflows and instrument surveillance you will develop concepts, prove feasibility and support the implementation in software, mechanics and electronics
Verification of system performance. You will define reliability concept and test procedures and support the design of test setups in order to verify that the system performs as expected. You will evaluate outcomes using statistical analysis.

To be successful in this role you have to:
Be an engineer or scientist with experience in designing systems, preferably using model based system design
Be a great communicator in order to facilitate negotiations with regard to requirements, benefits and risks, system and interface design etc. and in order to manage external development partners
Be familiar with techniques and methods for statistical test design and statistical analysis of test results
Be strong in documentation and in maintaining life cycle management tools for configurations, requirements, risks and verification tests
Practical experience in controlling instruments and fluid workflows (e.g. using model based design, and by using fluid and positioning sensors) would round off your profile
