We are looking for post-graduates with strong interest in technology for our rotational development program Start IT. Over the course of 18 months, you will work in a global cross-functional and also cross-regional setup and you will have the opportunity to contribute to different key IT projects at Roche. In addition to on- and off-the job training you will have the opportunity to rotate to one of our IT-site in Asia, Europe or America. During the program you are a part of an active network with other current Start IT participants.
Job facts
You will work in our Diagnostics division within our multicultural and dynamic Diagnostics Data Science Lab (DDSL) team. We are part of the global business intelligence team, located all over the globe (Kaiseraugst, Rotkreuz, Mannheim, Indianapolis and Shanghai) and provide advanced analytical solutions to the Roche Diagnostics community worldwide.
Responsibilities
Contribute to data science initiatives and experiments within Roche Diagnostics,
Work closely with other data scientists as a team member on different data science initiatives
Support data science team in applying best practices for data preparation and data cleaning, prior to analyzing data and model construction
Participate in the implementation of machine learning and artificial intelligence based algorithms for variety of initiatives
Follow well-defined data science processes from proving the value to productionizing of analytics-driven applications
Provide advice and consulting support to our key stakeholders and contribute to ensure that analytical projects are successfully implemented
Who you are:

You are a strong team player with a pronounced service orientation and proven collaboration and teamwork experience.
You have an excellent academic background and possess strong analytical skills with a can-do attitude in order to solve complex problems.
Your qualifications:
Master degree or higher in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics/Mathematics/Physics or an equivalent major with experience and expertise in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data mining. Graduation no longer than 2 years ago
Familiarity with statistical programming languages and packages such as R, Phyton, SAS, SPSS and data mining platforms such as Knime, WEKA, H2O, Alteryx, etc.
Solid exposure to data warehousing and Business Intelligence methodologies and toolsets (e.g. Microsoft BI, HANA, Tableau) as well as Big Data architectures such as Hadoop ecosystems (Map-Reduce, Hive, Impala, Spark, etc.), would be a plus
Experience with machine learning on top of Hadoop (e.g. Mahout) would be a plus
Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to interact at all levels of the organization with executives and senior leaders
Strong consulting, negotiation and influencing skills and ability to communicate to technical & business audience
Strong interpersonal, analytical and intercultural awareness
Fluent in two languages, one of which must be English
