External Affairs Senior Officer

Overall Purpose:


The External Affairs Senior Officer provides cross-cutting support to the External Affairs team with a focus on fundraising. S/he will work closely with the External Relations (fundraising), Communication and Policy Advocacy team members to coordinate activities and provide excellence in management of internal and external stakeholders.


Requirements


Tasks and Responsibilities:



  • Support the writing and coordination of persuasive proposals, reports, budgets, and activity plans for institutional/government and private donors

  • Proactively track funding opportunities within the medical research, science and global health landscapes, development sectors and new alternative funding mechanism for global health

  • Prospect potential donors, preparing briefing profiles, talking points and background notes, etc.

  • Support the development and execution of External Relations strategies & activities targeting current donors to renew and upgrade donor’s commitment or new donors

  • Follow-up on donor payments & draft acknowledgment letters

  • Provide coordination and support to Legal and Finance with donor contracts

  • Support planning and organizing meetings, events, and field visits including drafting presentations and preparing materials such as briefing notes, talking points, bios, etc.

  • Manage and update the stakeholder contacts database in Salesforce for External Affairs

  • Maintain the calendar of events to support the effective management and prioritization of external opportunities

  • Participate in the development of the annual External Affairs action plan

  • Support the creation of presentations for external meetings

  • Schedule and organize all necessary External Affairs internal meetings including those involving other departments

  • Support with printing and disseminating publications, including managing inventory and archives of publications and merchandise to inform printing/re-ordering needs, including the needs of regional offices

  • Follow-up on documentation review and validation by GARDP’s senior leadership

  • Provide support to External Affairs team members as required


Experience



  • Minimum 6 years' relevant experience in fundraising (reporting and proposal writing)

  • Additional experience in communication desirable

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a multicultural, multi-lingual team environment and matrix structure

  • Additional experience of working in one of the following fields: global health, public health, research & development, science or humanitarian field or philanthropic sector is desirable


Education



  • Graduate or post graduate degree


Other Requirements



  • Passion for GARDP’s mission (intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn about scientifically complex concepts, understanding of R&D and drug development, diseases, medical field & global health, product development partnership model as well as for the philanthropic & not-for profit sector)

  • Proficiency in other languages a plus

  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft Suite

  • Knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM desired
