Inseriert am: 23.04.2019
The
ETH Zürich (Prof. Gerald Schwank) and Children’s Hospital Zürich (Prof. Johannes Häberle, Prof. Beat Thöny) are conducting a collaborative project on the development of gene editing therapies for metabolic liver diseases, and are seeking for a highly motivated research assistant for the project 'Establishment of Gene Editing Therapies for the Treatment of Monogenetic Liver Diseases' to join their team.Research Assistant Position in Genome EngineeringSeveral monogenetic liver disorders are life-threatening and respond poorly to conventional therapies. For these diseases, genome editing therapies are considered a promising alternative treatment approach. Our team is dedicated to the development of clinically applicable genome editing tools for the treatment of these patients. To tackle this endeavor we use synthetic biology approaches to generate novel CRISPR/Cas9 systems and apply them to patient-derived liver organoids, mouse models, and large animal models (pigs). The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the project, with a focus on the assessment of the safety of the novel approaches for clinical application in patients.
We are seeking for a highly motivated research assistant. Applicants should hold a master’s degree in biological engineering, veterinary medicine, biology, or a related field. The candidate must have a strong background in molecular biology techniques, and must be experienced with primary cell culture techniques and animal experimentation. Previous experience in working with CRISPR/Cas9 genome engineering and on metabolic liver diseases is an additional plus. The applicant should have a collaborative spirit, should be highly motivated, and dedicated to perform research of the highest quality. The position will be located between the Institute of Molecular Health Sciences at the ETH Hönggerberg, and the Children’s Hospital Zürich.
We look forward to receiving your online application including a letter of motivation (one page), CV, diplomas, certificates of employment and names of three referees. Please address your application to Mr Michael Wobmann, Human Resources. Please note that we exclusively accept applications submitted through our online application portal. Applications via email or postal services will not be considered.
