For support of our USP Team at our Basel site (Switzerland) we are looking for a


Director (f/m/d) Upstream Processing (USP) Process Development 


 


  Job description:



  • Leading the complete USP Team responsible for Process Development

  • Prove leadership for developing next-generation USP bio-solutions portfolio and platforms, including high throughput process development

  • Actively support the yearly budgeting process for growth investments

  • Providing in-depth upstream processing expertise to the team and actively engaging in trouble shooting activities

  • Organizing asset and personnel resources

  • Representing the USP Team in client meetings

  • Supporting Sales and Project Management in realizing new customer projects

  • Working on internal projects for continuously improving USP development strategy

  • Reporting to the Vice President Biopharmaceutical Development 


Qualification and skills: 



  • Master or PhD in Biotechnology, Biochemistry or Biology

  • Minimum 10 years´ experience with cultivation of mammalian cells

  • Minimum 7 years´ industry experience in USP process development of biopharmaceuticals, GMP production experience favorable

  • Proven capabilities in leading employees

  • Experience with single-use bioreactors from mL-scale to 2000 L production scale, experience with automated multi-parallel bioreactors favorable

  • Experiences in performance of process characterization and process validation favorable

  • Vast experience with mammalian cell cultures (e.g. CHO, HEK and human cell lines) and thorough knowledge of cultivation techniques

  • Empathic and solution oriented personality with sound communication skills and proven leadership experience

  • Proven capabilities in working in interdisciplinary teams

  • Excellent English skills, German skills favorable
