The labour market division at KOF is a new research division at KOF Swiss Economic Institute, ETH Zurich. The division monitors, analyses, and evaluates the effects of policies, institutions and economic forces on jobs, the workforce, and wages, with the aim of establishing quantitative evidence relevant for policy makers and society at large. Core competencies include the analysis of firms' demand for workers, wage setting and wage inequality, discrimination, immigration, unemployment, and digital labour markets. Our analyses are often based on innovative and large datasets, and we apply rigorous econometric or machine learning methods to estimate causal effects.PhD Researcher in Labour Economics The central task of this position is to conduct academic research on labour market phenomena with a focus on the Swiss labour market. The successful candidate also helps to build up the new research division and participates in the forecasting and monitoring activities of the institute. We offer the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative research environment. We are looking for an outstanding researcher who is interested in pursuing a PhD in labour economics. You should have the potential to conduct high-quality research and have a clear interest in labour markets and in the Swiss economy. Rigorous statistics training in causal inference and/or machine learning, and a strong command of Stata, R, and/or Python are desired. An excellent command of German and English is required; good knowledge of French is an asset. The starting date of this position is subject to negotiation. Gross salary will be in accordance with the regulations of ETH Zurich.
