You will be the technical focal point for our high potential Ultrafast customers. This will involve you establishing an in-depth understanding of the needs and requirements of key customers and act as an internal interface between Engineering, Operations and Strategic Market Development. You will build structured processes and product roadmaps within the Ultrafast area and manage the solid-state product portfolio in Switzerland (existing and new products) with special emphasis on product performance, cost and timelines.

The Role

• Own the product throughout the Product Lifecycle; manage the interface between commercial activities and Engineering.


• Establish product specifications for all products; manage the maintenance of these specifications during the product development phase and manage early product availability and final sign-off to the local operation.


• Act as the commercial lead on new product development projects with ownership of product specifications requirements including performance, cost and time-line.


• Control and approve product customisations and manage changing priorities; provide pricing proposals for special and customised quotes/orders.


• Provide market insight to the business - assess market competition and provide input to the product roadmap.


• Together with Engineering, establish timelines (product availability) and report on relevant project status and progress.


• Ensure the availability of Product Documentation and warranty conditions.


• Initiate and drive third party co-operation within the ultrafast product portfolio.

The Individual

• Proven, relevant experience of product management, development and production within a laser manufacturing environment. Specialist practical knowledge of ultrafast solid-state laser technology would be highly desirable.


• A recognized qualification (ideally laser related) will be preferred as would strong project management skills.


• Well-developed analytical abilities; able to question complex information, identify root-cause and effects and deliver inspiring solutions.


• Comfortable working as part of a team; good inter-personal skills - and fluency in the English language.


• Skilled in establishing structured processes and documented requirements.


• There will be some travel to other NKT Photonics offices and some customers within Europe.
