Scientist, Cellular Assays in Lead Discovery

In Lead Discovery (LD) we are seeking a committed scientist to join our Cellular Assays team.


The LD department in Pharma Research and Early Development initiates and supports Small Molecule research projects by identifying chemical starting points and by providing key data and insights for their successful optimization in Medicinal Chemistry. We are a tightly-knit community of many and diverse talents, closely collaborating with our therapeutic areas and other functions.


As a Scientist in our team:



  • You identify cell lines relevant to targets and indications of interest

  • You design, optimize and execute a wide range of mechanistic and functional assay formats. You are accountable for the analysis and interpretation of all generated data

  • You build on your know-how in technology and automation to ensure continuous improvement of lab workflows

  • You ensure readiness of assays for medium- to high-throughput screening campaigns and for routine profiling

  • You utilize your expertise in cross-functional drug discovery project teams to establish and drive project plans and the selection of screening and profiling assays

Who are we looking for?


We are looking for a collaborative and creative professional with a PhD in biology or a related life science, with at least 3 years of experience in pharma industry and a solid overall understanding of the drug discovery process. You bring:



  • Strong hands-on experience in the areas of cell line generation and cellular assay development, ranging from genetically engineered cell lines to primary cells and iPSC derived models

  • Know-how in gene expression and sequencing methods, in flow cytometry, and in high content image analyses.

  • Leadership competencies: You’ve demonstrated the ability to effectively coach and supervise lab team with expertise across cellular and molecular biology.
