Job description:

The Research Associate/ Senior Research Associate, Virology will support new and existing projects by designing, performing and analyzing molecular and cell biology experiments to generate preclinical data and to characterize promising drug candidates to support further development. Contract type: permanent 100%.

The responsibilities include: i) designing, performing and analyzing experiments independently ii) data analysis and interpretation iii) writing of research reports derived from the performed studies and presenting these at internal meetings.

Experience in molecular biology, gene expression, protein analysis, cell culture, virus genetics, and assay development. A sound knowledge in multiple techniques from the list below will be required:

• Maintenance of cell lines and primary cell culture


• Conduct cell culture assays, such as proliferation, migration, viability


• Virus production and titration


• Live cell imaging and microscopy


• High-throughput qPCR assays (384 well format)


• Flow cytometry


• Western and/or Northern blotting


• ELISA and reporter based assays (Luciferase, Fluorescence, etc.)

Your Qualifications:

• B.S. or related degree in biology or a closely related discipline and at least two years of relevant research experience, M.S. level associates encouraged to apply


• Willingness to work under BSL2/3 conditions with infectious agents is required


• Prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry is beneficial.


• Ability to design and conduct modern molecular virology/biology experiments as part of a team


• Self-motivated, ability to multi-task, and highly collaborative team focused approach to scientific research


• Excellent communication, organization, and planning skills and an excellent command of English
