At a glance:

As the tooling engineer at On you will be the creator and adviser for the most advanced footwear in the industry with a heavy focus on bottom units. You will work close with the design and development team to create the most functional and best performing running, outdoor, and performance all day shoes. You will also be responsible for analyzing and improving the static and dynamic properties of the shoe parts as well as be an adviser for new and existing products and technologies. You will also work closely with our test analysts and biomechanics expert to help validate and bring championship level performance product to life.

Your mission:

• Support Blueprint creation based on design drawings


• Support 3D modeling and corrections.


• Analyze and improve functional grading of different shoe parts.


• Together with counterpart in Asia communicate with and support mold shop teams


• Assisting the development and design team with any tooling related questions or issues.


• Make sure footwear designs are within tolerance for development and production


• Provide insights and knowledge about footwear creation and manufacturing. Specific experience in working with running footwear is a plus.


• Support Innovation technology projects when needed.


• Mentoring developers and more junior engineers.


• Creating and revising product best practices as needed.

Besides being excited to be part of the team that is putting the fun into the run for millions of people, we hope you’ll also bring:

• College degree in related technical/engineering field


• A minimum of 10+ years’ experience in a specialized category footwear technical capacity to include bottom tooling and pattern engineering, development and production. 


• Demonstrate knowledge of footwear engineering process, Asian production and RD&D processes.  


• Experience of FEA simulation is a plus.


• Excellent knowledge of mold engineering.


• Familiar with materials used in category specific footwear.


• Experience in footwear patterns for athletic footwear


• Footwear manufacturing knowledge.


• Fluent in English, skills in German, Mandarin or Vietnamese are a plus
