For one of our customers, an international publisher in Basel, we are looking for a

Data Team Manager 100% m/f/d

In this position you will lead a small team in a hands-on role to architect and manage data structures within the company. From the management of existing databases and partner data exchanges to the identification, collection, and consolidation of new data sets, this is an exciting new position as the availability and exploitation of data become increasingly important.

Your tasks

• Identification and collection of new data sets from existing platforms and applications as well as external sources


• Architecture of data storage using a combination of traditional DB, DW, and cloud-based collections


• Responsibility for the ongoing management of data including the implementation of data governance, quality assurance, security, access, and backup processes


• Interfacing with various teams and individuals across the company to identify their data needs and put in place strategic plans to collect and deliver the required data


• The administration, maintenance, and optimization of MSSQL databases


• Maintenance and further development of data cubes for insight usage within Cognos


• Responsibility for the production, automation, and ongoing exchange of product metadata sets with our external partners, and for ensuring that their data queries and corrections are dealt with swiftly and efficiently


• Line management of 1.5 FTE

Your profile

• Swiss IT apprenticeship or a bachelor’s degree in a computer science, data science, or business informatics discipline


• At least 5 years’ professional experience working in a data management, big data, or data architecture role


• Excellent SQL/DBA skill set


• Good experience of data warehousing and data mining


• Experience working with APIs, specifically ODATA and other RESTful-based APIs


• Good experience of working with cloud-based solutions, specifically Azure Data Warehouse and Azure Data Lake


• An analytical thinker and problem solver with the ability to deliver innovative solutions


• A self-starter who can take the initiative and lead data strategy


• Excellent organizational and communication skills


• A strong sense of responsibility, accountability and customer service


• Previous line management experience and practical experience with visualization tools such as Power BI/Tableau and R/Python would be advantageous


• German: full fluency and English: very good (written and spoken)
