(Senior) Research Associate - Innovative Cell Models to study the fate of therapeutic proteins

We are searching for a highly motivated Research Associate to join the Cellular Transport group. The team is part of Investigative Safety within Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Roche Innovation Center Basel. The department is a well-established and respected group of 80 people responsible for the conduct of all in vitro work to determine the disposition and safety of new Roche medicines. Our group focuses on the use of cutting-edge cell biology methods to investigate the transport and disposition of new chemical entities (including biologics), with a strong focus on the blood-brain barrier.


In this position you will:



  • Develop and apply human 3D models of the blood-brain barrier to characterize transport properties of biologics

  • Use advanced microscopy techniques and FACS to visualize and quantify membrane receptor dynamics and intracellular transport processes

  • Be responsible for maintaining a molecular cell biology lab; planning, conducting and documenting in vitro studies

  • Report and present results of studies within internal group meetings

  • Interact with a multidisciplinary group to help advance projects across the portfolio


We are looking for:



  • Bachelor/MSc degree in biological sciences with relevant industry experience (1-5 years)

  • Strong expertise in cell culture and handling of multiple cell types. Experience in using advanced cellular models (iPSc, spheroids, organ-on-chip) is highly desirable.

  • Experience using confocal microscopy to design imaging-based assays.

  • High degree of self-motivation and ability to independently conduct experiments

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Interest in working in a multidisciplinary and multinational environment

  • Good knowledge of written and oral English
