TEAM DESCRIPTION


The Solutions Consulting team is responsible for supporting new business as well as existing clients across the DA sales region.


RESPONSIBILITIES / MAIN DUTIES



  • To provide Presales Support to Sales Team and the Customer:

  • Knowing and being able to present confidently the technical benefits of GTT, our network, our data centres and our products.

  • Knowing about any advantages we have over competitors in the technical space

  • Being able to positively relate customer requirements into our offering and qualifying out opportunities with requirements that GTT can not meet

  • Being able to answer questions from customers about how our proposed design solves their issues

  • Understanding the kind of technical issues that customers have around buying whatever product we are trying to sell them, being able to anticipate and answer their questions.

  • Experience of holding high (CXO) level presentations or demonstrations

  • To be responsible for a technical design that fits the customer requirement and expectations. To be able to talk a customer through the design proposed, highlighting the advantages and limitations imposed by that design and the likely performance that could be achieved.

  • To be responsible for understanding where a customer solution is standard or non-standard. This includes:

  • For any solution, what is standard and what is not standard

  • For non-standard, to be able to explain to the customer why standard is better wherever there is a standard product that solves the customer requirement.

  • Engage Solutions/Products/Specialists explaining clearly why we must deviate from standard, and then following their lead

  • To ensure orders are appropriately designed, priced, approved, and delivered. This includes:

  • Global Tail Quotes - putting in quotes for correct bandwidths, taking account of major technical requirements such as when to use MPLS and when to use point to point circuits for example. Identifying and avoiding suppliers because of limitations (either functionality, performance, SLA, or resilience)

  • Writing and checking Data Capture Forms/Migration Plans to attach to orders with enough information for operations to deliver effectively

  • Ensuring that costs that have been input to the pricing tool(s) are accurate and take all elements of the design into account.

  • Advise and lead Sales from a technical perspective, particularly in terms of services to larger corporate prospects/customers.

  • Working with other appropriate areas of the GTT organisation in providing direct feedback from the solution which will help to shape the GTT value proposition (i.e. content, capability, technology and volume).

  • Maintain awareness of the IT and telecommunications markets.



  • Update internal systems and documents to ensure that delivery teams can continue with smooth delivery.

  • Be an initial point of contact to resolve delivery related technical queries both for external and internal customers.

  • Finalise and approve solutions for customers allocated.

  • Understand the company’s inventory system and network specific configuration.


KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED



  • Knowledge multiple technical domains (WAN, Security, Hosting, Voice).

  • Ideally a similar background in a pre/post sales consultancy experience in an IT service provider / System Integrator, 5 years +.

  • Demonstrate understanding of priorities when working under pressure.

  • Understanding of ERP and CRM systems

  • Understanding of ISP/System Integrators delivery processes

  • Understanding of the bid cycle

  • Proficient in key Microsoft applications, particularly Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Word.



  • Demonstrable understanding of WAN networks, IP address planning, DNS

  • Demonstrable Understanding of SDWAN technologies like Velocloud or Silverpeak

  • Demonstrable understanding of IT applications and TCP/IP in LAN/WAN environment, DHCP, Firewall concepts, WAN technologies such as Dark Fibre, SDH, xDSL, E1, E3, Ethernet. 

  • Demonstrable Understanding of QoS and WAN Optimisation, MPLS VPNs (Routing Protocols - BGP, OSPF), Ethernet (Switching, Spanning-Tree, VPLS).

  • Basic understanding of VoIP, (specifically SIP and h.323, voice codecs), ideally variants of SS7 (ISUP/ANSI), Q.931

  • Basic understanding of Soft Switching, TDM switching, conferencing, Video Streaming


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Ideally university level education in Computing/Electronics/Maths/Physics or equivalent qualification in Data & Telecommunications.
Cisco CCNA level very desirable.
