Project Manager (80%-100%)


Within a new project led by the Centre for primary care and public health, University of Lausanne (Unisanté), Swiss TPH is in charge of managing a project called DYNAMIC, aimed at implementing electronic clinical decision support algorithms in primary care health facilities in several districts in Tanzania and Rwanda. These algorithms based on tablets, connected to oximeters and integrating point-of-care test results (ePOCT), will guide clinicians during consultation with sick children 0 to 12 years, in order to improve their clinical outcome and the rational use of antimalarials and antibiotics.

Your responsibilities include:



  • Assure project management including financial aspects and risk management

  • Provide technical, managerial and administrative support to the DYNAMIC team, in particular to project planning and implementation (including workplans, budget elaboration and tracking budget execution)

  • Support to the development of the study design, in particular operational implementation research (conception of study structure, including implementation and monitoring plan, technical input on clinical aspects etc.) as well as ethics and regulatory requirements

  • Oversee activities relating to electronic decision support tools such as software adaptation, validation and deployment etc.

  • Coordinate activities with research sites in Tanzania and Rwanda and regularly communicate with other collaborating institutions and partners at national and international levels, including Unisanté, national research partners, MoHs and other relevant entities

  • Submit protocols for ethical review and lead communication with ethical and regulatory bodies

  • Coordinate trial monitoring and oversight activities

  • Contribute to data analysis and write up of study findings

  • Establish progress reports and to contribute to the reporting to Unisanté and to the dissemination of results to the scientific and global community


You should have the following experiences and skills:





  • Advanced university degree in epidemiology, public health or a related field

  • At least 10 (ten) years of international experience working on public health and development issues, including in LMIC contexts

  • Demonstrated experience with carrying out operational/implementation studies/research independently. Specific experience in large scale health service research are an asset

  • Experienced in field team management, quantitative and qualitative data collection, data management, data analysis and report writing

  • Knowledge and expertise in electronic decision support tools within primary health care settings is an asset

  • At least 3 years of leadership experience and human resource management

  • Empowerment of employees by transparent communication, coaching and enabling

  • Competence to create an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect

  • Experience of interacting with clients from the private and public sector

  • Language skills: the candidate has to be fluent in English. French would be an asset

  • Willingness to travel abroad frequently (8 to 10 weeks per year to study countries)

  • Strong spirit of team work and initiative, and ability to work with professionals in multi-cultural context

  • Effective negotiation, conflict management and communication skills

  • Ability to take responsibility and leadership in a complex cross-cutting department with internal and external project partners
