This position is located in the Office of the Director-General, United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG).
ResponsibilitiesUnder the overall guidance of the Chef de Cabinet of the Director-General, and the direct supervision of the Special Assistant of the Director-General and the Chief of the Building Unit in the Division of Administration, the incumbent will:
-Assist in communication, outreach and fundraising activities for the Office of the Director-General and the Celestial Sphere Restoration project: prepare communication materials such as content for social media, draft inputs for the UNOG website pages related to the Office of the Director-General and the Celestial Sphere Restoration project, participate in meetings of the UNOG Web Governance Groupe, the Communication Focal Points meetings and liaise with the UNOG Web Administrators and other UNOG offices.
-Draft and edit substantive correspondence for the signature of the Director-General and/or the Chief of Office, as well as background material, briefing notes and talking points for meetings.
-Assist the focal point in the compilation of the UNOG Annual Report, by liaising with UNOG divisions and Services; editing, proofreading English and French versions and assuring appropriate follow-up including collecting analyzing feedback.
-Assist in organizing activities and events, such as commemorative days, cultural events and ceremonies, such as the inauguration of restored rooms of the Palais des Nations and of the Celestial sphere.
-Perform other related duties upon request, in particular administrative tasks relevant to the project of the Celestial Sphere Restoration such as and providing inputs to the monthly progress report.

Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in international relations, development studies, communications, public relations, public administrations, management, political science or related fields. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work ExperienceExperience working within the United Nations Common System is desirable.
Experience in a Front Office of a UN Senior official is desirable. Experience in drafting communications, speeches, tweets, etc. is desirable.
Experience in working with information management, i.e. online survey, compiling information from diverse partners is desirable.
Experience with the recruitment process of contractors is desirable.
Experience in social media management is desirable.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in both English and French is required.
