ABOUT VIU

VIU is a young and innovative eyewear label from Switzerland. We have set out to revolutionize the market for designer eyewear with our direct-to-consumer business model. Cutting out middle men we are able to combine highest quality with fair prices. VIU glasses are designed in Zurich and handmade in Italy and Japan. We offer a unique customer experience in more than 50 flagship stores across Switzerland, Germany, Austria, UK & Scandinavia as well as our online store. Our main office locations are Zurich and Munich.

THE JOB

We are looking for a CTO to create and execute a technology strategy that aligns with the VIU business vision & strategy. In doing so, the CTO will need to fully understand business requirements and capabilities and align technology principles, architecture, people and the organisational approach behind them. Do you want to bring in your ideas and entrepreneurial drive to help shape the success story of a young and growing company? YOUR TASKS

• Take VIU from our monolithic legacy system towards our future, service-oriented architecture 


• Build and prioritise the right capabilities which the business needs, integrating external services where appropriate


• Follow up on the strong trend towards buy & integrate in our technical principles


• Strengthen internal software development in areas where we can add real competitive advantage


• Ensure the right mix of operative value add and strategic thinking - you need to have the ability and be excited about diving deep at times


• Further professionalize the VIU tech team across Software Engineering, Product Management, and IT Operations (including IT Support for our retail stores). 


• Grow a capable, well-organised, highly productive team of around 20-30 FTE (we are still in the process of hiring, and are currently about 20 FTE)

YOUR PROFILE

• Experience as CTO or seasoned VP Engineering in a dynamic and sizeable company


• Proven track record in developing tech stack of E-commerce & consumer product companies


• Team leadership experience - leading teams of at least 20+ FTE


• Knowledge of state-of-the-art tech architecture and development practices - experience in headless commerce solutions is a plus


• Experience in connecting business and tech vision and building efficient structures and processes to realize the full potential


• Entrepreneurial hands-on, pragmatic and operative CTO type who can add value on different levels of the Tech and VIU organization


• Analytical mindset and business acumen - able to make smart and business supportive choices, enabling the business to scale successfully


• Experience in IT Services & physical retail is a plus


• Fluent in English, German of advantage
