The Centre of Excellence for Consumables is part of Global Operations and is responsible to supply in-vitro diagnostic (IVD) single-use consumables for our own analytical systems. With over a decade of experience, we manage meanwhile more than 170 products (pipette tips, reaction vessels for PCR or immunological reactions, cuvettes, etc.) from early development until phase-out together with our internal and external partners.
To enable robust supply, the Centre of Excellence for Consumables owns special knowledge and skills in all plastic related topics like resins, injection molding, mold manufacturing, automation and testing of complex assembly processes and has a strong focus on Design for Quality and Manufacturability together with our global supplier base.
The Centre of Excellence for Consumables is currently underway to set up new structures and to integrate additional technical expertise, driven by a fast and strong market growth. The position
With this newly created department, we strengthen our technical expertise of the production process to complement the expertise of our supplier base and shape the market as a significant customer in the contract manufacturing business of high volume injection-molded Consumables. Your department supports equipment projects from the concept until ramp-up into series production and will take over the technical equipment management until decommissioning of the production and test equipment. This requires an intense collaboration with our external suppliers as well as with our internal partners, such as the product care and project teams.
Your main responsibilities include:
Build up and strategically develop the department
Define, own and maintain effective processes and methods
Identify essential know-how areas (e.g. automation, robotics, vision control, testing, injection molding, mold design, packaging, labeling, raw material, data analysis, simulation, design of experiment) and develop a service network for all relevant topics or build up internal expertise if appropriate
Develop efficient production, automation and tests concepts together with our supplier base
Balance known and proven technology while scouting the market for future solutions
Increase the robustness of the production output and quality by continuous improvement, technological development and an effective operational risk management
Foster collaborations and communication with internal as well as external stakeholders

As the ideal candidate, you have the following qualifications and skills:
University degree in Engineering or other related disciplines
3 years of relevant work experience
Experience in IVD product development, manufacturing and testing
Expertise in automation, robotics, vision control and injection molding
Knowledge of Process Management methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) and in-vitro diagnostic related regulations, such as ISO 13485, IVDR, FDA 21 CFR part 820 etc.
Ability to think strategically and systemically, willingness to try new ideas and participate in changes
Strong leadership skills including the ability to get things done with a proven track record of consensus building and conflict management in challenging situations
Self-motivated, autonomous, structured and goal-oriented mindset with a solution-oriented balance of short term mitigation and long term solution
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and external suppliers by establishing credibility and building rapport
Executive presence, performing well under pressure and decisiveness
Excellent communication skills in German and English
Travel required up to 25%
