For our location in Bern (Switzerland) or Marburg (Germany), within the Network Engineering team, we are looking for a:

Network Engineer II

Working within the framework of established operating procedures and in close cooperation with Senior Network Engineers and external support personnel, provides the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the network infrastructure and related components. Primary focus will be supporting the Cisco VoIP and WLAN infrastructures, while supporting both hardware and software aspects of network operations across multiple LAN/WAN configurations. Monitors network performance and security to ensure the network operations continuously meet the business requirements at agreed and acceptable levels of performance, security and availability.

Duties and responsibilities

• Supports and maintains Cisco UC and wireless infrastructure and LAN technologies


• Supports, maintains, develops and troubleshoots the operational network infrastructure and related components.


• Performs hardware and software installations, upgrades and maintenance of network infrastructures and components.


• Utilizes network software and hardware for the continuous analysis of the network infrastructure and components.


• Provides and implements pro-active measures to improve network performance, security and/or availability or to reduce costs.


• Provides assistance and support to other Administrators in analyzing, troubleshooting and resolving (remote) network related problems.


• Monitors and documents network operational statistics (usage, performance, security/access, errors, availability, etc.).


• Assists Senior Network Engineers and external vendors in developing and enhancing the network environment.


• Provides second and third tier support to end-users.


• Remains up-to-date with the latest network developments to ensure accepted industry best practices and developments are known and investigated for applicability for the company.


• Participate in projects with other IT departments and/or external vendors.


• Performs other related duties as required.

Profile

• A minimum of two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.


• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, associates, clients, customers, and the general public.


• Fluent in German and English.


• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.


• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


• CCNA Required, CCNP nice to have.

• Bietet Support und Betreuung für Cisco UC und Wireless-Infrastruktur und LAN-Technologien


• Betreut, unterhält, entwickelt und behebt Fehler in der operativen Netzwerkinfrastruktur und verbundenen Komponenten.


• Führt Hardware- und Softwareinstallationen, Upgrades und Unterhalt an Netzwerkinfrastrukturen und Komponenten durch.


• Nutzt Netzwerksoftware und Hardware zur kontinuierlichen Analyse der Netzwerkinfrastruktur und Netzwerkkomponenten.


• Liefert und implementiert pro-aktiv Massnahmen zur Verbesserung der Netzwerkleistung, Sicherheit und/oder Verfügbarkeit oder zur Kostenreduktion.


• Bietet Unterstützung und Support für andere Administratoren bei Analysen, Störungsbehebung und Lösen von netzwerkbezogenen Problemen (extern).


• Überwacht und dokumentiert operative Netzwerkstatistiken (Nutzung, Leistung, Sicherheit/Zugang, Fehler, Verfügbarkeit, etc.).


• Unterstützt Senior Netzwerk Engineers und externe Anbieter bei der Entwicklung und Verbesserung der Netzwerkumgebung.


• Bietet Second- und Third-Level-Support für Endanwender.


• Ist stets auf dem Laufenden mit den neusten Netzwerkentwicklungen, um zu gewährleisten, dass die besten, in der Branche allgemein anerkannten Verfahren und Entwicklungen bekannt sind und auf Anwendbarkeit für das Unternehmen geprüft werden.


• Engagiert sich in Projekten mit anderen IT Departementen und/oder externen Anbietern.


• Führt nach Bedarf auch andere Aufgaben aus.

Profil

• Minimum zwei Jahre Erfahrung im Fachgebiet und/oder Weiterbildung; oder gleichwertige Kombination von Ausbildung und Erfahrung.


• Fähigkeit, allgemeine geschäftliche Berichte, Fachzeitschriften, technische Verfahren, oder gesetzliche Bestimmungen zu lesen, analysieren und interpretieren.


• Fähigkeit, Berichte, Geschäftskorrespondenz und Verfahrenshandbücher zu schreiben. Fähigkeit, Informationen effektiv zu präsentieren und Fragen von Gruppen, Vorgesetzten, Interessengruppen, Klienten, Kunden und der Allgemeinheit zu beantworten.


• Deutsch und Englisch fliessend in Wort und Schrift.


• Fähigkeit, praktische Probleme zu lösen und mit einer Vielfalt von konkreten Variablen in Situationen mit nur wenig vorhandener Standardisierung umzugehen.


• Fähigkeit, eine Vielzahl von schriftlichen, mündlichen, in Diagrammen oder Plänen präsentierten Instruktionen zu interpretieren.
