Senior Strategic and Corporate Communications Manager


The International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA) is a global, non-profit, non-governmental organization that represents the research-based pharmaceutical industry, including the biotechnology and vaccine sectors. Our members comprise leading international companies as well as national and regional industry associations in both developed and developing countries. We are looking for a;


Senior Strategic and Corporate Communications Manager


Core skills;



  • Minimum 8-10 years experience in corporate communications / media engagement and strategic communications is an advantage; background in public or global health is desirable

  • Excellent language (English) skills, knowledge of other UN languages is an advantage

  • Editorial/content writing experience is essential

  • Educated to degree level in communications (preferred), social sciences or relevant subjects

  • Management experience is desirable

  • An effective team player who has an ability to coordinate with internal teams and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, diverse professional environment and manage competing priorities

  • Proficiency in Communications tools (video, photoshop, InDesign, website) desirable


Job Description;



  1. Serve as comms focal point for policy leads; support development and implementation of comms plans for key policy areas including Innovation, global health, and regulatory affairs

  2. Develop content (blogs, slide decks, infographics, leave-behinds, policy statements) and ensure regular alignment of social media assets with overall IFPMA policy messages

  3. Coordinate with Media and Digital Comms Manager to ensure external messaging (social media posts and corporate website) is fully aligned and up to date

  4. Develop high quality communications content (talking points, statements, press releases) 

  5. Provide communications support to specific events (WHO Executive Board, World Health Assembly, flagship events, IFPMA Council/leadership meetings etc.) and propose opportunities (forums, academia) that support IFPMA policy focus areas

  6. Ensure IFPMA corporate and policy comms content is up to date and fully leveraged on external platforms (IFPMA corporate website, Global Health Progress platform and other organizational online assets)

  7. Create new communication channels (corporate newsletter) and ensure regular supply of editorial content (blogs, interviews) for IFPMA branded blogposts (Health Matters and Science Matters)

  8. Support regular and active engagement of IFPMA Communications’ networks (member companies and associations) to inform and build synergies on issues that impact the industry and support message amplification from diverse industry channels (monthly calls are organized, provide quality input to agenda setting and minutes are circulated)

  9. Support development and ensure implementation of comms plans for international days and campaigns (World Immunization Week, UHC day, Women’s day, etc)

  10. Inform supervisor and policy leads on emerging issues relevant to the industry

  11. Update/create IFPMA templates and style/logo guidelines and ensure corporate products (letterhead, power-point presentations, e-signatures etc.) are up to date

  12. Engage and manage external agencies/consultants (graphic designers, editorial writers, PR agencies, event organizers, videographers), where needed
