Head of Purification & Drug Product Development

Novimmmune SA is a Swiss drug discovery and development company located in Geneva and focused on the creation of antibody-based drugs for the targeted treatment of inflammatory diseases, immune-related disorders, and cancer.

Novimmune is currently seeking a Head of Purification & Drug Product Development who will provide leadership, expertise and knowledge in a team of purification scientists developing novel purification methodologies and scale up evaluations for monoclonal bispecific antibodies and provide technical oversight of drug product manufacturing performed at CMOs

Description of activities:

• Management and leadership of a team of 3-5 purification specialists


• Plan and review downstream process characterization studies


• Manage and review preparation of pilot drug product batches


• Review drug product process characterization and validation studies


• Generation  and review of reports, SOPs and other documentation


• Identify resource & equipment requirements


• Ensure effective recording and tracking of laboratory work is maintained with relevant quality documentation


• Provide technical oversight of downstream processing and DP development activities


• Introduction and optimization of new techniques/technologies


• Interaction with and transfer of processes to CMOs

Education, experience and competences:

• At least Bachelor or Master Degree in biotechnology, or equivalent


• 5 years of experience minimum in industrial purification development of monoclonal antibodies


• Proven management of small teams


• Experience of process characterization & process scale-up


• Experience in the use of affinity, ion exchange, mixed mode or hydrophobic interaction chromatography


• Experience of operation of AKTA Purifier AKTA Prime, AKTA Avant, TFF.


• Experience of using DOE to develop and obtain process understanding for DSP activities


• Excellent communication and presentation skills


• Problem solving, creativity, and flexibility with regards to evolving priorities


• Attention to detail


• Good level in English (oral and writing)


• Proven experience of report writing, report review and presentation at external conferences/meetings


• Knowledge of GMP requirements for downstream and drug product activities
