For the Neutron Diffraction Group in the Laboratory for Neutron Scattering and Imaging we are looking for aPhD StudentMagnetic frustration as a source of extended periodic spin texturesYour tasks

  • Use scattering techniques, neutron and X-Ray diffraction to investigate the crystal and magnetic structures of new materials that may host topological spin textures

  • Analyse experimental data and develop interpretations using analytical and numerical models

  • Collaborate with theoreticians (modelling) and chemists (materials discovery and characterization)

  • Publish results in scientific journals and present findings at scientific meetings

Your profile

  • Master degree in physics or physical chemistry

  • Knowledge of crystallography, neutron/X-Ray scattering and/or magnetism

  • High level of proficiency in numerical data analysis and/or computer simulation

  • Able to work independently in a collaborative and interdisciplinary research team

  • Willing to regularly travel internationally

  • Good communication skills in English
