In this role, you will be responsible for the reserving and reporting processes of the non-life department of Helvetia Active Reinsurance. You will contribute to the creation and development of this business by building the reserving tools, and providing the documentation, controls and actuarial assumptions needed. With these in place, you will deliver the ongoing reporting to ensure that we have identified and adequately reserved the risks written in the portfolio.

Your responsibility



  • Perform quarterly the reserving process for business and write actuarial report

  • Tool building, maintenance and development for reserving

  • Calculation and analysis of technical reserves of under IFRS 4, IFRS 17

  • Implementation of IFRS 17 methods for business

  • Develop and maintain documentation and controls

  • Analysis of results, movements and reserves sensitivities

  • Calculation and analysis of the profitability of the business, calculating KPIs like the new business margin and analysing trends

  • Reporting to the local and group management

  • Contact with external auditors

  • Develop and validate actuarial methods for valuation/reserves according to SST and Solvency II

  • 80 - 100%


Your qualification



  • Qualified non-life actuary (FIA/SAV or equivalent), with 7+ years post qualification experience reserving non-life reinsurance and developing reserving tools

  • Very sound understanding of the relevant standards and principles

  • Experience with multiple IT tools such as Excel and R

  • Good understanding of key industry issue and trends

  • Strong analytical skills, with hands-on Data Analytics experience being a big advantage

  • Very good command of spoken and written English
