Head of Communication and Marketing


Role


The Head of Communication and Marketing leads the Communication and Marketing team to ensure the development and successful deployment of ISO’s corporate communication strategy, to strengthen and promote the ISO brand and the reputation of the organization and to support ISO members’ communication and marketing needs.


Key responsibilities



  • Leading the communication and marketing team, including motivating team members, defining and promoting the team’s mission and values, defining objectives, conducting performance reviews, addressing training needs, managing the budget for the team and ensuring the appropriate allocation of resources;

  • Defining and ensuring the successful implementation of ISO’s communication strategy on all channels and ensuring that content fits the ISO style, and strengthens and promotes the ISO brand;

  • Ensuring a proactive and positive engagement with journalists and members of the media;

  • Providing communication support (including key messages, speeches and presentations) to the Secretary-General and other leading individuals within the organization when they are acting as ambassadors for ISO around the world;

  • Supporting ISO members with communication and marketing material and capacity building initiatives to help them engage with stakeholders, highlight the importance of standardization, and promote and distribute ISO standards in their country;

  • Providing ISO members with data on high-impact ISO standards and their sales potential, and working with ISO members to respond to market needs for new standards-related products, formats and delivery methods;

  • Creating networking opportunities for the communication and marketing staff of ISO members through the organization of events (physical and virtual) and the use of online platforms, to share ideas and best practice and support learning within the organization;

  • Work with the Human Resources and the Leadership Teams to build a culture at the Central Secretariat in line with our values;

  • Work closely with the Head, Membership and External Relations to improve communication with ISO members and support partnerships with IEC, ITU and other international organizations.

Qualification and Experience



  • University or post-graduate degree, or equivalent, in communications, journalism, international relations or other relevant subjects

  • Significant experience in senior level communications in an international environment

  • Proven track record in engaging with, press, media, business and international institutions

  • English mother tongue (French and/or other languages are a plus)

  • Strong written communication skills

  • Ability to understand complex economic, social, environmental and technological issues, and translate them into understandable and creative narratives

  • The ability to build compelling stories and deliver them in various formats

  • Proficient and enthusiastic use of multiple social media platforms either professionally or personally

  • Ability to manage multiple communication projects simultaneously whilst dealing with ambiguity, adversity and real-time adjustments and changes

  • Ability to plan, prioritize, coordinate and delegate work effectively, work to strict deadlines, manage budgets and resources and implement organizational policy

  • Ability to work effectively, build relationships and gain respect of diverse groups, including executives, content and business owners, and event teams

  • Lateral thinking and the capacity to listen to other people’s points of view, and understand and integrate multiple perspectives

  • Strong team spirit with a passion for managing teams composed of people from different cultures, fields and backgrounds

  • Confident, positive, curious, open and inclusive

  • Proactive with a “can-do” attitude
