As a lead scientist you will guide research and development activities for the detection and enumeration of pathogens, spoilage organisms and hygiene indicators using cultural techniques, Real-Time PCR, ELISA and emerging rapid and automated technologies, including next generation sequencing.


A day in the life of Food Microbiology Lead Scientist

 



  • Recommend, drive and deliver projects on analytical microbiology through knowledge on standard microbiology methods, rapid alternative methods and emerging technologies

  • Implement the Nestlé analytical strategy to establish a state-of-the-art method portfolio that supports the Nestlé food safety management system and is aligned with the needs of R&D, Nestlé Quality Assurance Center and factory laboratories

  • Create collaborations and external alliances with commercial method developers, international method organizations (ISO, CEN, AOAC), authorities and universities

  • Coach new talent to fill key roles throughout NestléR&D and Operations globally

  • Participate and lead international scientific and industry committees concerned with analytical microbiology


What will make you successful

 



  • PhD or master in food microbiology

  • At least ten years of experience in the food industry or commercial laboratories

  • Core knowledge of development, validation and implementation of microbiology methods

  • Prior decision making responsibility relative to the selection of microbiology methods

  • Established involvement with commercial method developers, international method organizations (ISO, CEN, AOAC), authorities and universities

  • Knowledge on Good Laboratory Practices (ISO 17025), biosafety and lab design would be an asset

  • Fluent in English, other languages are a plus
