The Decision Science Laboratory (DeSciL) is a service center in the ETH Department of Humanities, Social and Political Science; its focus is on supporting departmental professorships in conducting human subject trials and data collection in the laboratory, online, and in field studies. DeSciL is currently seeking to appoint a programmer / laboratory technician.
You will work on the development of scientific research software and assist researchers in deploying the software in the laboratory, in the field, and in online environments. You will automate laboratory processes and assist the maintenance of the laboratory infrastructure.
The employment will initially be temporary due to third-party funding. At a later point in time, a permanent employment will be possible.
The ideal candidate should have a degree in computer science, engineering, or a social science (economics, political science, psychology, sociology) and preferably collected 1-2 years of work experience in the field. The candidate must be able to demonstrate software engineering skills and experience working with C# (.NET), Python, web technologies (JavaScript, Html, CSS), Git, and scripting in Bash or PowerShell. MS Windows-based system-level knowledge is desirable. Previous experience in statistical analysis and tools (R / Stata) is a plus. You speak and write English fluently.
