  • Performed cybersecurity maturity assessment, strategy refinement, and agile delivery de-risking for a global industrial goods company

  • Quantified cyber risk at a global bank and developed a model for optimizing their cyber project portfolio based on degree of risk reduction

  • Designed security organizational structure for a global retailor

  • Developed an information security target operating model for a German bank

  • Conducted a cybersecurity health check with focus on cloud and IT sourcing strategy for a European technology company

  • Developed a cybersecurity transformation program for a government ministry

  • Developed IoT and industrial data security standards to enable digital factories for a global brewing company


What you will do


You will work as part of BCG teams in a wide range of challenging client engagements with some of the leading firms globally. You will advise our clients on how to identify information assets, organize lines of defense, analyze security threats, design and implement policies, transform security consciousness, assess cyber resilience and maturity, and estimate risk.  The responsibilities of this role include:



  • You work in small but high impact consulting teams ranging from 1 to 5 people on select Cybersecurity and IT Risk Management topics

  • You suggest and perform specific analyses – derive and deploy state-of-the-art strategic security concepts and put them into the client’s business context

  • You interact and collaborate with the client organization on management as well as operational levels

  • You enable the client to embrace your results and their applicability, taking an active role in presenting key findings to C-level executives  

  • You contribute to the development of Cybersecurity and IT Risk Management intellectual capital for publication and/or internal BCG use (e.g. emerging security trends in particular industries)


Our Expert Consulting Track (ECT)

The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG’s ability to successfully meet our clients’ demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver next-level impact for BCG's most complex and cutting-edge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG's thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the ‘best of BCG’ to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting.

Your Qualifications


You would typically have a minimum of 3 years of functional or consulting experience in delivering value to customers, clients,e.g., as a member of the cybersecurity department of a major company, in any of the following areas:



  • Defining security strategies / visions 

  • Devising implementing and operating business-driven cybersecurity management concepts, solutions, and policies/procedures – covering the technical, governance, organization, and people aspects

  • Supporting evolving security needs in the wake of the digitization of industries, value chains and businesses

  • Establishing or strengthening security and risk management organizations, platforms or ecosystems 


Education and Qualification



  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Cybersecurity, Mathematics, Physics, or Systems engineering preferred

  • Strong academic track record from top-tier institutions

  • Security related qualifications, certifications, or clearances would be of added benefit (e.g. CISSP, CISA, ISO27001 Lead auditor/implementer, CISM, CRISC, CEH, ITIL)

  • You are able to work creatively in a time-limited, solution-oriented environment

  • You have a conceptual understanding of business processes and value chains

  • You have excellent communication skills and you are able to convey insights to non-technical audiences

  • You are empathic and able to win the trust of clients – on management as well as operational levels

  • You have intercultural competence and experience in working in more than one country and/or multi-cultural teams

  • You are fluent in the respective local language and English, other languages would be of added benefit
