Senior Buyer


Reporting to the Head of Purchasing, we are looking for a Senior Buyer with the following Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:



  • Ensures that the company selects the most appropriate goods and services based on price, quality, delivery times and services support.

  • Manages the qualified Suppliers / Materials portfolio independently, ensuring continuity and cost-effectiveness of supplies for the categories assigned. In a peculiar way, for the Raw Materials category for pharmaceutical and nutritional products and primary packaging 

  • Supports the relevant departments for all purchasing and procurement activities relating to vendors and suppliers of goods and services for the assigned categories

  • Actively promote and champion the use of best practise to ensure compliance with the organisation’s policies and procedures

  • Liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and clients

  • Liaise closely with Logistics and Operations regarding best method of shipment and most cost-effective option for deliveries of goods

  • Developing purchasing strategy in conjunction with Supply Chain Management 

  • Drafting contracts for the purchase of goods and / or services assigned 

  • Producing reports and statistics using computer software

  • Participation in audits as required

  • Keeping accurate records of all procurement files and using them as reference for the future

  • Ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives

  • Visiting manufacturers, distribution centres and service suppliers


Skills



  • Relevant Business Administration or Engineering qualification. Degree or Management qualification in Supply Chain Management/Purchasing & Supply or suitably qualified with relevant experience 

  • Relevant experience in buying raw materials in the Pharma industry, gained within the industry for at least 5 years’ 

  • Extensive knowledge of Contracts & Procurement in the industry including industry standardised contracts 

  • Fluent in English and Italian Advanced Business 

  • German skills are a plus 


The position holder will be expected to travel as required both locally and internationally
The role will be based in our EMEA HQ near Lugano, Switzerland
