Reporting to the Head of Technology and Platforms Group, you will help us to take our 3D cell culture and organ-on-a-chip solutions to the next level. This includes engineering of scalable and flexible 3D in vitro platforms for drug efficacy and safety testing and their integration into standardized and automated operation and analysis workflows. The work will be based on InSphero’s unique AkuraTM technology platform that enables continuity in 3D tissue assay development from screening to multi-tissue interaction studies in health and disease. Main Responsibilities



  • Design and optimize advanced microtissue culturing platforms

  • Technical implementation of standardized (automated) tissue-based assays and analyses

  • Design, manage and execute organ-on-a-chip related services and product development projects

  • Establish and optimize routine workflows for tissue assays in service and development projects

  • Participate in lab work for new product, application and service developments (approx. 30-40% lab-time)

  • Preparation, presentation and publication of scientific data

  • Promote and present InSphero at conferences and exhibitions

  • Preparation of and application for patents

  • Support product specific information transfer to and exchange with Marketing, Sales and the Bio-production unit

 

Profile



  • MSc in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical and Bioengineering or Biotechnology (technical degree) with min. 5 years industry experience

  • Strong expertise in the field of automated cell culturing

  • Proven expertise in image and data analysis of cell- and tissue-based assays

  • Engineering expertise in developing industry-grade cell culturing systems including organ-on-a-chip devices

  • Basic programming skills

  • Basic knowledge in cell culture techniques, ideally 3D microtissues

  • Strong communication skills, networker, team player

  • Professional English is a must, additional languages are a plus

  • Applicants must be either Swiss citizens, EU-nationals or have the legal right to live and work in Switzerland
