Description

The Bank for International Settlements is looking for a Communications Specialist (Digital Content) to join our Communications team. Under the guidance of Communications Management, the successful candidate supports the Bank in communicating in an effective manner to internal and external audiences; and ensures content management of the intranet, BIS website and other BIS-hosted websites, and social media platforms.
 Principal accountabilities:
Website content management (60%)

  • Prepares, publishes and maintains content for intranet, BIS website and other BIS-hosted websites and social media. Ensures use of best web practice and latest usability standards. Reviews website sections periodically for consistency and timeliness, and plans corrective action.

  • Creates metadata for effective e mail alerts, search function and RSS feeds.

  • Maintains up-to-date documentation of the workflows and processes of the job.

  • Manages incoming enquiries to the intranet and webmaster e-mail account.

Internal communications support (40%)

  • Crafts, scopes and schedules internal communication and messages for optimum impact.

  • Drafts, edits and sub-edits in support of cascading the communication of key messages.

  • Works actively with other communicators to manage ad hoc internal communications workload.

  • Advises internal stakeholders on digital content and contributes to projects across the communication team and wider organisation.

  • Utilises an array of internal communications channels, ensuring tracking mechanisms for optimum utilisation.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applied communications or information management.

  • Good skills in usage of content management systems, web design, and social media. Knowledge of visual communication tools an asset.

  • Good drafting and editing skills in English.

  • Proven experience in the use of HTML and disciplined use of style sheets.

  • Ability to work flexibly and with accuracy under tight deadlines.

  • Attention to detail; eye for consistency across documents.

  • Excellent written English; knowledge of at least one other major European language an asset.

  • Ability to adapt quickly to new methods of work.

  • Good interpersonal skills.

Work experience:

  • A minimum of two years’ work experience in (digital) communications. Experience of working in a central banking or international institution would be an advantage.

 All new staff members are recruited on a fixed-term basis without expectation either of any contract renewal or conversion. The contract may however be extended or converted to an open-ended one at the end of the term, subject to organisational needs and individual performance.
