</div>Translations Coordinator, Internal Communications Team - GL D - French Speaking - 5 year defined durationThe Translations Coordinator and Reviser (French) is responsible for coordinating and leading the work, systems and processes of the Global Fund’s translations function, ensuring the quality, consistency and timeliness of translations. Translation work is conducted principally through a network of external translators, with the Translations Coordinator responsible for ensuring the coordination of the translation workflow for all languages. The coordinator also provides additional translation capacity (into French), acts as revisor of French translations and supervises the work of a full-time translation consultant.

Key Responsibilities


The role of the Translation Coordinator and Reviser (French) is to:



  • Oversee and coordinate translations work at the Global Fund

  • Coordinate the use of internal and external resources for translation, including the work of a Translation consultant

  • Liaise with other departments to improve flow of translations needs and ensure quality and consistency of translations in the Global Fund;

  • Manage Flowfit and Logiterm translation request and management systems;

  • Design and implement systems and procedures to facilitate effective translations across the organization;

  • As needed, arrange for translation and revision of documents in any language combinations; 

  • Manage the process for selection of translators and liaise with the Corporate Procurement Unit throughout the contractual process;

  • Review and revise all incoming translations into French for quality;

  • Translate short texts and documents when necessary to meet urgent deadlines.

Qualifications


Essential:


Advanced University degree in linguistics or related field with a professional qualification in translation.


Experience


Essential:



  • Significant experience as a professional translator;

  • Experience in proofreading and editing;

  • Experience in managing a team of translators;

  • Knowledge of computer-assisted translation technologies;

  • A keen eye for detail.


Desirable:



  • Seven to 10 years’ experience as a professional translator;

  • Experience working in a large, preferably global organization;

  • Proven ability to work in a multi-cultural environment;

  • Knowledge of public health and/or the Global Fund helpful.

French as a mother tongue (or equivalent level), excellent level of English. Working knowledge of other languages would be an asset.
