We are looking for a Senior Hardware (HW) Developer to join the Wired Communication department at ABB Power Grids Switzerland Ltd. Based in Bern, you will become a key member in the hardware infrastructure team for our modular FOX615 Multiservice Platform. Your responsibilities



  • Develop and validate new Hardware designs and concepts

  • Redesign and improve existing hardware components in cooperation with the Software team and production

  • Implement and test new Hardware, benchmark with other units to find the best possible solution

  • Commission and debug Hardware prototypes

  • Write adequate technical description on functions and units and ensure a solid technical documentation

  • Maintain the existing Hardware platform

  • Be an active and creative part in cross-functional projects supporting us in our continuous improvement mission


Your background



  • Solid qualifications in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or Information Technology

  • Several years of experience in digital design with focus on packet switched technologies

  • Good expertise of state-off-the-art microprocessor and peripherals design (MAC Interfaces, MDI Interfaces, NAND/NOR Flash, SDRAM design , Host interfaces design)

  • Understanding on TDM / SDH / PDH, analogue electronics, power supplies, voice (two-wire / four-wire) interfaces, and thermal simulation practices is beneficial

  • Excellent oral and written English skills

  • Strong communication skills, combined with networking and influencing skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as to engage and spark new ideas in the team
