  • Duties

    • Plan and manage one or several IT projects within the secretariat

    • Follow standard project management processes, ensure that the development reflects carefully analysed business requirements. Advise client business units on the impact of their requirements and provide alternatives where necessary.

    • Conduct feasibility studies when required to assess project viability. Assess commercial or other existing applications as alternatives to new development and conduct gap analyses. Ensure all such requests are included in the IT projects portfolio.

    • Ensure that project is delivered on budget and on time. Ensure that IT architectural concerns, operational requirements and lifecycle requirements of all major projects are identified and addressed.

    • Identify risks, develop and implement contingency plans to address risks and anticipated future requirements.

    • Track and communicate project status on a regular basis.

    • Effectively communicate to senior management (in written format and in meetings).

    • May need to assist in testing and take on some business analysis tasks.

    • Ensure that the development reflects the business or end user requirements as agreed in the project plan. Advise internal clients from various departments on the impact of their requirements and provide alternative solutions when necessary.

    • Develop user documentation and training to ensure that IT projects are accessible to the end users.

    • Promote on-line training for end-users worldwide.

    • Ensure timely handover of the project within the agreed timetable and budget involving all relevant stakeholders in the process (both Geneva and Budapest based units and five regional offices).

    • Adhere to staff regulation and the Code of Conduit




  • Requirements

  • Education Required Preferred

    • University degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, computer sciences or similar discipline X

    • Certification in Project Management (PMP, PRINCE2, HERMES, …)


  • Experience Required Preferred

    • Minimum 5 years of related experience in Project Management

    • Experience with complex projects and full software development lifecycle (preferred not mandatory)


  • Knowledge and Skills Required Preferred

    • Knowledge of IT systems including Microsoft technologies.

    • Excellent verbal and oral communication skills. Excellent documentation skills.



    • Significant experience with processes related to IT support, operations, and software development.

    • Strong analytical skills, ability to abstract and represent graphically.

    • Ability to work effectively with technicians in different roles and work as part of a team.


  • Languages Required Preferred

  • Fluently spoken and written English.

    • Good command of another official language (French, Spanish or

    • Arabic). (Preferred not mandatory)
