Job Description

JOB PURPOSE:

Maintains and troubleshoots all process control system hardware and software (DeltaV DCS system) in support of the biopharmaceutical manufacturing process.
Creates software design specifications, implements new control strategies and develops software test protocols in support of new products and processes.
Fluent with various other Automation systems including Data Historian (OSI PI), Data Acquisition Systems (DAS), Batch Reporting systems, MES (Syncade) and Siemens PLCs. Great understanding of instrumentation to facilitate trouble shooting. 
Troubleshoots process control systems and supports manufacturing operations through an 24/7 on-call rotation.
Leads and manages medium to large engineering projects with little direction. Allocate project tasks and provide direction to contract software engineers. Participate in multi-function teams to implement change and improve on existing processes.

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Identifies and leads process and continuous improvement projects across various Manufacturing unit operations as well as Automation systems. Develop complex software solutions to support site and capital projects.


2. Supports software and hardware that comprises the various Automation systems including DeltaV, OSI PI, Infobatch, Syncade. Perform System administration duties.


3. Leads cross functional teams to support alignment across sites for process and system improvements.


4. Mentor and lead junior level Engineers within Department


5. Maintains training, develops goals and tracks progress

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or Computer Sciences with at least 10+ years in the Biotech industry



• Comprehensive knowledge of DeltaV distributed control system




• Comprehensive knowledge of cGMP and GAMP guidelines




• Biotechnology or batch pharmaceutical experience production experience preferred.




• Experience in Biotechnology Manufacturing specific areas: Cell Culture, Chromatography, Centrifugation, CIP\SIP preferred
