«A place where knowledge is created» - As one of Europe's leading universities of economics and business administration, the University of St.Gallen (HSG), Switzerland, is committed to the education of over 8500 students and is one of the largest employers in the region, providing around 3100 employees with an attractive and innovative environment for research.The Institute of Management & Strategy at the University of St. Gallen (IfB-HSG) focuses its research efforts, among other things, on the topic of digital transformation. How can traditional business models, that have served incumbents well for many years, be digitized? How can new disruptive digital business models be created? And how can the two be managed simultaneously in one organization? To answer these questions, several researchers at IfB-HSG conducted 100+ interviews with CEOs and CDOs of globally leading organizations. These best practices and insights serve as the basis for the book "The Digital Transformer's Dilemma" – a practitioner-oriented guidebook on how to digitally transform large incumbent organizations (to be published by Wiley in September 2020; sneak preview published, i.a., in HBR). As part of the book promotion tour, the authors are looking to transform the contents of the book into presentation materials, to be used for keynote speeches, workshops, webinars and lectures. It is in this context that the IfB-HSG, under the tutelage of Prof. Dr. Karolin Frankenberger, is looking for an:Intern100%
Your responsibilities

  • Create visually appealing and properly formatted high-impact Powerpoint presentation materials, based on the contents of the book, pre-existing slides and various graphic elements (e.g., existing graphic design illustrations etc.)



    • Draft one comprehensive slide deck (~50 slides) that features contents from all book chapters

    • Draft one high-level slide deck (~15 slides) that features key contents of the book


  • Support ancillary research project work in the context of digital transformations (e.g., prepare or proofread promotional texts and other materials, support book marketing etc.) 


What we expect

  • Superior Powerpoint skills (incl. excellent creative slide design, formatting and swift execution skills); advanced skills for remaining MS Office suite

  • Outstanding analytical skills, including the ability to understand complex concepts quickly and translate them into visuals

  • Proactive, self-starter attitude, including a structured and independent work style paired with a high quality standards for own work 

  • Superior attention to detail when executing work

  • Very good communication skills to deliver high-impact messages

  • Excellent English language skills; additional German language skills preferred, though not required

Additional information

  • The position is designed as a one-month internship

  • The start of the internship should be at the earliest possible date (latest beginning of June)

  • The primary final outputs (2 Powerpoint presentations) are pre-defined. Exact time allotment (when work is being done) is flexible and up to the candidate – we are happy to accommodate individual work preferences.
