Interactive and Digital Technology (IDT) has opened up new opportunities for formal and informal learning in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The successful candidate should have a solid background in the cognitive and behavioural sciences and contribute to a better understanding of how IDT supports and affects human functioning and learning. He or she is also expected to be familiar with a broad range of educational technologies, particularly those appropriate for STEM education at universities. At the assistant professor level, commitment to teaching and the ability to lead a research group are expected.
Assistant professorships have been established to promote the careers of younger scientists. ETH Zurich implements a tenure track system equivalent to other top international universities.
